Hanna turned 2 weeks old the day of Jack's 2nd birthday party! She's starting to be more comfortable with life with our family! She sleeps most of the day, and eats every couple of hours. Besides a couple of crying tantrums, she's been a great baby. She has the sweetest cry and whimper, but if you don't move quickly, it turns into a full blown scream. Hanna is very squirmy little girl. She's so tiny and loves to sleep on her side and we love just cuddling with her!
Dear Hanna,
Today is Wednesday, January 11 and you are 2 weeks and 3 days old! Time is flying!! You went to the doctor two days ago and are healthy as can be! You weigh 7 lbs. 1 oz., 14th percentile, 19.5 in., 21st percentile, and your head is 34.9 cm which is the 26th percentile. Everyday I continue to get to know you more. You typically go to "bed" at 11:00 ish, but fake us out at 9:00 and we think we will get a couple hours in! Nope...that's your time to be wide awake! After I nurse you, you go to bed in the top of the pack n play in our room until about 2:00. You love sleeping on your side. You can roll from side to side and the other day actually rolled from your tummy to your side!
At 2:00 AM, you eat again, go back to bed until about 5 or 6, and then back to sleep until 8 or 9. Most of the day you sleep until about 3 or 4:00 rolls around, then you start to get a little fussy with gas bubbles. I feed you at about 5:00 again. You are still a little fussy right when we get ready to sit down for supper so we have to eat quick and then feed you again or go downstairs to listen to Jack play. Sometimes he laughs at you when you cry, and other times he's very concerned saying, "Baby cryin'!" He held you last night and is such a proud big brother!!
When you are awake, you are so much more alert than you were last week. Big eyes wide open! You stare at our faces and like when we do eskimo kisses with you. I love when you do your fake cry, or soft whimper. Usually you do this after eating, or if I pick you up after you've been asleep. I hold you in the sitting position in my lap and your eyes stay closed with the grumpiest sad face whimpering. It's so cute though!!!
You are a pretty easy-going baby! You like to sleep on the ottoman, chaise lounge, or in the sunroom on the ottoman. You also like your bouncy seat. Sometimes I put you in it in the sun to warm you up. Right now you are sleeping on your side, with your hands in a praying position by your face. You are laying on your white fuzzy blanket and are covered in your new pink minky blankie. You look so peaceful and I especially love when you smile in your sleep. So sweet.
It's hard to tell what you want when you are crying, but usually it's because you are hungry, gassy, or have a wet diaper. The second after you go potty, you want your diaper changed! You get very frustrated if we do not pick up on your cues right away! I hope your belly starts to feel better and better. We aren't sure if it's something Mommy eats or if it's just your tiny body adjusting to life.
You are so squirmy! Amber took your pictures a couple days ago and said you were the squirmiest baby she's ever seen! We agree! You are squirmy during diaper changes, while we hold you, and most of the time! You have the longest feet and fingers, with such pretty nails! We are not sure where you got this because Mommy and Daddy both have small hands and feet. We think you'll be tall and play volleyball and piano, even though your body is so tiny compared to your feet and hands.
We love you so much! When we look at your little face, we can't tell who you look like! You look like Mommy's baby picture, but have reddish hair like Daddy! You are so tiny and precious and we can't wait to see who you become. Please know how much we love you and will protect you for the rest of our lives. You are our second angel!
