Christmas with Grandpa Bob and Grandma Carol

Our next Christmas celebration was with Grandpa Bob, Grandma Carol, Great-Grandad Brown, and Great-Grandma Brown.  We had a great day!  It was so nice of all of them to make the trip to our house to celebrate!

Hanna's 2nd Birthday!

We celebrated Hanna's 2nd birthday in the afternoon on Christmas!  We had cupcakes and ice cream and she opened some more presents!  She got a puzzle and a farm!  We had a fun evening with a dance party and ring around the rosy....just what she wanted!

Dear Hanna,

I can hardly believe that you are already 2 years old, but then you’ve seemed so grown up for the last few months that it’s not surprising me all that much.  You are just about the cutest little girl I know….with your adorable crazy curls, your goofy personality, your feisty mannerisms, and your smooth skin and kissable cheeks.  I try to snuggle you and kiss you all the time, and I soak it all in, because you have to be in the mood to receive them.
I love the relationship you have with your brother.  You are very much at one end or the other in all ways…..no middle ground.  You either completely allow him to tell you what to do like chasing after monsters downstairs, even though you have no idea what you are looking for, or you tell HIM what to do.  I have heard him boss you around and tell you exactly what he wants you to do: come downstairs, get the bad guys, play football…to which you respond, “K!”  I have also heard you give him a piece of your mind. “No, Jackie.  I do it!”  “My sword.”  “Dat Hanna’s.”  Or the latest one, “Jackie, sit down RIGHT now!”  You are SO much fun to watch play and are so much fun for Jack to play with.  I am so glad you two have each other.
You are my little angel girl.  I’m kind of obsessed with you.  You have this other piece of my heart that I didn’t even know existed.  You can make me cringe with your sass, and two minutes later, make me laugh so hard and you and just want to eat you up!  I love telling you, “Hanna, I love you soooooo much!”  You will then say, “I love you sooooo much!”  When you say my name, I melt.  I love hearing you say Mama.  “I read book wit Mama.”  Or if you are playing downstairs with Jack, “I go see Mama.”  Or when I’m driving you in the car, and you say, “What doin’ Mama?”  Your little voice is so darn cute, I can’t get enough.  I wish I could just bottle it up and put it on repeat every day for the rest of my life.
You are a pleaser.  If you are doing something cute like snuggling an animal or a blanket, I can make this ‘Awww’ noise, and you will do it over and over again…every time I say ‘Awww’.  If I ask you to do ‘hot feet’, you will stop whatever you are doing to dance around the floor lifting your feet up super fast and giggling all the way.  If I ask if you want a dance party, you always respond yes!  You put your own dishes away in the sink, and your sippy away in the fridge.  Although sometimes you put it away, close the door, open the door, take another swig, put it back, and repeat the process.  You truly enjoy your freedom.  When you are eating a meal or snack, you like to take breaks and make an excuse to have to get down from the stool.  You will drop your grape, and make a big scene about how you have to get down to the ‘gape’, and then eat it and come back up.
You like to push our buttons.  We witness you multiple times a week living life more ‘on the edge’ than what we are used to.  The other day you were standing on the kitchen stool just staring at us as we had a stand off asking you if you wanted a time out or to sit down.  After lots of bargaining, you finally listened and sat down.  You did the same thing on the couch the other evening….standing up and trying to lean the recliner all the way back….not worried one bit.  You just stared at us with you big blue eyes with a gleam of sass like ‘What’ya gonna do about it?!’  Oh we have to cover our faces so many times with you because you crack us UP!  I love your spunk…but it’s also making me very nervous for the teenage years.  I just hope you still love me as much as you do now.  You are my baby gewl gewl gewl (girl girl girl).
Singing and dancing.  You LOVE to do both of these.  You will sing at all times of day: when you’re waiting in your crib for us to come get you, in the car on the way to Tory and Joe’s, while your just playing with your toys.  One of  your songs of choice is Twinkle Twinkle (tinko tinko widdo staw….how I wondo what you aw)  This is your ABSOLUTE favorite.  I love your little voice and hearing how proud you are when you sing it.  You also love the ABC’s!
You are such a little snuggler.  You love to nuzzle the noses of any animal, or rub your nose on a blanket.  It is so sweet to watch you snuggle up on the floor when you just want to relax….or when you want us to tell you how cute you are!  We ALWAYS look forward to our snuggles with our baby girl.  You find the perfect little nook on Daddy or me to fit just perfectly in.  I love those moments.
Jack’s Halloween knock knock joke was a hit.  You loved it so much and saw us laugh at him telling it!  So you made it your goal to be able to say it yourself!  So since Halloween time, before you were two, you have been saying,

“Daddy, Knock Knock”
“Who’s there?”
“Boo hoo hoo.”
“Boo hoo hoo who?”
“Don’t hafta cwy about it!!”

It is so cute to see you go around the room to each person and repeat this joke over and over again.  We love you.
Aunt Laura has referred to you as a sour patch kid for a few months now.  There is a commercial on tv that shows a sour patch candy kid being very sweet one minute and then switching very quickly into a feisty, angry kid!  This is how you are a lot of the time!  Of course you are the sweeter side more often (except the past couple of weeks with your molars coming in), but it is kind of funny to see how you can switch from these two personalities so quickly.  You are entertaining, that is for sure.  And you definitely know exactly what you want when you want it.
Food closer.  You are not picky.  You will eat most anything.  You definitely make messes along the way though!  Today you were eating your ‘eatmeal’ (oatmeal) which you ask for every morning when I get you out of bed.  As you were eating it today, you looked right at me and said, “I use hands.”  I told you not to, and to use your spoon, and you said, “No, I use hands.”  You eat your oatmeal with your hands, and if you think I don’t want you to do it, you do it.  There’s really no stopping you, so I just let you go.  Of course you had to have peanut butter toast once you saw that’s what Jack was having.  You like testing the water.  But you will close on Jack’s meal at times if you finish yours and he is done.  We’ve watched you slide your plate over, slide his in front of you, and continue eating!  You’re such a cutie!!  Growing girl!
Sometimes we call you other names besides Hanna: baby, honey, sister, baby girl.  You will respond to us, “No, not baby, I Heena!”  Or “No, not sista, I Heena!”  You love saying ‘Pop Goes the Weas-o’.  A lot.  This started when we would wait for toast to pop in the morning (which you think is the funniest thing).  Sometimes you throw in ‘Pop Goes the Heeeena!’  I love watching you play with your new dollies, as you’re so used to all of Jack’s toys.  You will take care of your babies, and sing them Baby Beluga just like we do to you:

Baby Beluga in the deep blue sea, won’t my Mommy be so proud of me, she knows how I walk, knows how I talk.  Baby baby baby baby girl girl girl!

You also love singing the ‘Where is….’ Song.  This can be when you’re looking for a person or a toy.

Where zee Daddy, where zee Daddy, I dunno?  I dunno?  I love him very much…..so much he’ll never know……

“Minja minja minja tewtles….minja minja minja tewtles….minget minget minga tewtles. Tewtle powa!”  You love singing this when Jack is dressed up in his Ninja turtle costume!

“Dat’s too woud!”  You like to yell at us if our volume is too loud….yet your volume is louder than us all combined!  You get very bossy little girl!

We love you so very much baby girl!  Thank you for keeping us on our toes, for making that silly smooshed up face when you’re trying to tell us something dramatic, thank you for your cuddles, and thank you for that goofy personality.  You are absolutely adorable, and we love you SOOOOOO much! (That’s our little thing….I say to you ‘I love you sooooo much’ and you repeat back, ‘I love you soooo much Mommy!’)  Happy 2nd birthday baby girl!

                                    Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Christmas with our family 2013

We had a wonderful Christmas celebration with the 4 of us and my mom.  She came down on Christmas Eve and we went to church.  After church we came home and ate dinner and opened one present....Christmas jammies and a Christmas book for our collection.  The kids and Justin made cookies, wrote a letter to Santa, and we all sat around the fire.  It was so relaxing and just perfect!  The next morning the kids woke up to find that Santa had left them a trampoline!  They were so excited!  He also left them their stockings filled with an ornament, fruit snacks, socks, and head flashlights!  Then they opened up their presents from us.  This year we did a want, need, wear, read!  Jack got a warm up Adidas suit, a Ninja Turtle magna doodle/book combo, and Iron Man gloves.  Hanna got a warm up Adidas suit, a Dora magna doodle/book combo, and pajamas.  Grandma Joyce brought the kids a blow up tube sled!!  It was a great two days.
