September 2011

September went fast! We didn't take too many pictures, but have had fun watching Jack get faster, funnier, and feistier!! Some favorites:

"Thuck!!": truck. Everything is a truck now. Before I drop him off at daycare, we drive around and look at trucks in driveways (actually I'm trying to fill the time because when Daddy leaves for work, Jack is sad...so we hop in the car and drive around 6:50-7) What a thrill! He screams, "Thuck, Thuck!" over and over again. We will continue working on our t-r combos.

Gutsy! : Gutsy is a little Smurf plastic toy that Grandma Mary got from a Happy Meal and gave to Jack. That is actually the name written on the bottom! He is obsessed. When we put him in the car every morning he says, "Wha...Gutsy?!" He holds him, and hugs him and it's only about 3 inches tall. So funny.

Choo Choo: Jack's old obsession was choo-choos. He used to shout, "Choo Choo!" whenever he saw a semi, car, truck, bus, etc. Now he insists on reading his Choo Choo book in the car. Sometimes if I'm running 2 minutes behind, Justin will put him in the car, and I will get to the car to find him reading his book quietly, with Gutsy in his hand. Precious. He's not as sad if Daddy leaves when he's in his carseat and ready to go to daycare.

MamaandDadda/ BobbyandVickie: Jack loves putting pairs of people together. If I mention Daddy, he will say, "Mama and Dada". If I say, "Are you ready to go to Bobby and Vickie's?" He will say, "VickieandBobby, BobbyandVickie." If I mention Aunt Woa, he will say, "And Mik!" He can't quite say Mike, but says Mick!

Who Loves You? When we ask Jack, "Who loves you??" He always says, "Daddy!" If I continue to ask, he will say, "Daddy!" ...over and over again. More recently he adds in, "Woa!" then "Mik!"

Baby! We talk about the baby all the time....where will the baby sit? Where will the baby eat? Will you share with the baby? He always points to where the baby will sit in the car and where the baby will eat. Sharing is up in the air. But when I mention the baby, he comes to me, pulls my shirt up, and touches my belly. He hasn't swatted it for awhile, and usually will kiss it if I ask him to. The other day he fed the baby some of his sippy cup through my stomach...how thoughtful! Each morning he will pull his paci out of his mouth and say, "Baby!" He knows they are for babies, but we are waiting until the crib is set up for the new baby until he will actually give them away. After daycare each day, we pull up to our mailbox and for whatever reason, Jack says, "Baby!" I don't know if he thinks the baby is coming by mail-order, or if he remembers how we talk about the baby around that time every day. So funny.

NO: Sometimes if Jack is in one of his moods, he will say, "No!" "Do you love Mommy?" NO! "Do you love Aunt Woa?" No! "Can you say no?" No! When he is in one of these moods, don't even attempt to try to kiss him. He needs his space and he is reflecting on something that made him angry earlier in the day at daycare.

Daycare: Jack loves daycare. When we pull in the driveway, he gets excited. I usually have to pry Gutsy and the Choo Choo book out of his hands, but after that confrontation, he's ready to go inside. Once we get inside, lately he stays close to me...like a magnet. He will hold his feet up if I try to put him down, and stay very close. Bob has to pick him up, then he's fine. But he will not run to them anymore. He laughs as Gordie the dog barks at him. When I pick him up lately, he will run to the gate and can hardly contain himself. He tries to pry the gate open, and sometimes Bob opens it so he can run to me. He says, "Mama, Mama!" as he sprints so fast into my arms. I love it. No longer do I have to pry his fingers off of the fence because he wants to stay at daycare.

Eating: Jack loves to eat and his portion control needs some attention. If we make tuna and noodles or spaghetti, he has no shut-off valve. He will have a full mouth and ask for more. We tell him to eat some grapes or peas and he will shove a huge handful of those in also, only to ask for more food. When he is done eating, he says, "Mama/Dada....All Done" in a really high-pitched, sweet voice. He will then stack all of his utensils and sippy cup on top of his plate and push it aside. Sometimes if we aren't quick enough, he will start taking his fork and flinging his peas or veggies all over the kitchen. If he does this, he knows he has to go pick them all up and throw them away. He does a good job...even though it drives us nuts!

We love you buddy! Thank you for making our lives so much fun!!

Jack and Grady hanging out. We actually let them jump on the air mattress in the basement later this night and they had the time of their lives. I on the other hand, was so nervous....even though it was no big deal! Sorry Jack...you got stuck with a nervous Mommy!

Backpack! We went to Old Navy and bought Jack some fall clothes, and my mom, sister, and I loved this backpack. We of course had to get the matching monkey thermos and sandwich holder. He loved this backpack!

We went to watch a Hawk game with our friends a few weeks ago. He loved wearing his Hawk gear!

We've been playing with blocks quite a bit and making towers. Mostly I make the towers and Jack knocks it down, but this day, he built this tower and yelled, "Mama!" He was so proud! Notice his tongue is out...this is exactly what Justin used to do when he was proud of something or thinking! He's also showing us 2 thumbs up!

Potty! We bought this knowing he wouldn't use quite yet, but he is obsessed with toilets. He pretends he needs to use it, but nothing happens. Glad he's excited about it though!

We let Jack have a couple of snacks in the living room lately. He thought this was a VERY big deal! He's eating some apples and loving it!

Jack got a cookie at daycare right before we picked him up. He was crazy. He took his arm out of his sleeve and was running around wild! He kept doing downward dog, breakdancing, and sticking one leg in the air!

Sugar high much?!

Tubby crayons! Jack's been loving these lately. He usually doesn't try to eat one until after about 10 minutes.
