Halloween, Trick or Treating with Papa, Thanksmas, Holiday Hoopla and Holiday Extravaganza!
November 2012
2 years 10 months old
-Jack,
you were on a streak for awhile where everyday on the way home from daycare,
you would say, “I haff a headache.” I’m
guessing you were copying what Mommy says everyday after work though!
-You
are either in the mood to get the mail after daycare, or not. You are happy as can be to see me when I pick
you up, and from the second you get in the car, you are an arguer. You stall.
You want to do it yourself. You
don’t want music on. You want me to turn
right not left. You don’t want to go
home. You don’t want supper. When I pull up to the mail box you get mad
sometimes and say you don’t want to get it.
You say not to pull into Lee and Vickie’s house. Then when you see Daddy’s not home, you
aren’t happy. When I take you out of the
car, you want to play in the garage. You
want to shut the door yourself. Then
after you see me and Hanna walking in, you follow, demanding a
snack…immediately!! After we get you a
yogurt stick or cheese stick, you are must more pleasant. Yikes!
You crack me up though and I always try to make you feel important by
giving you a magazine or ad from the mail and telling you it’s for you.
-You
are LOVING everything Christmas. You
think all songs are sung by Santa. You
think he’s coming tomorrow…everyday. You
love Christmas lights.
-You
love going anywhere. Going with adults
to the store, in the car, to church, to get gas, these are all things you
absolutely love.
-People
watching. You are definitely your
mother’s son. We watched home videos at
Grandma Joyce’s this weekend and watched Mommy jumping for hours on the
trampoline to 80’s music with the most serious, intense, entertaining face…just
like you do! We will take out our
trampoline and put it in the basement tonight.
I can’t wait to see you jump to the music like I used to! Out for breakfast with Papa this morning, you
were major stalling. We had packed up
and I came back into the restaurant to find you and Papa still sitting there. Well there was a little blonde girl sitting
diagonal from you. You were taking your
time, insisting you wanted more and more French toast even though you were
stuffed. I think you liked peeking over
at her every once and awhile, and also like the special time with Papa. Either way, you love to watch!!
-Nighttime
routine. You play, usually for “2 more
minutes!” (or 5 like you try to upgrade to nightly). We then read 2-3 books: Llama Llama Red
Pajama, Christmas search and find book, and Hop on pop or Myrtle the
Turtle. You then want Daddy to put you
to bed, so you kiss and hug me, I say, “ I love you…”, and you say, “toooooo
much!” Then I say, “I love you to
the…..” and you say, “moooooon and
baaack!” Then Daddy takes you potty,
takes you into your room, you turn on the fan, rocketship nightlight, alarm
clock turns to yellow, turtle stars (sometimes), and 7 stuffed animals, 2
pillows, 2 blankets. Then Daddy leaves
you and says he’ll come check on you in a few minutes. Goes back in, and you usually talk or sing
until falling asleep about 8:00 or after.
-“Wooker
guy”- You love to work like Daddy. One night you were throwing the bricks out
one by one so we could build a tower.
You were saying, “I’m a tough guy.
I get all the work done. My
bottom hewts but I’m a tough guy. I got
errans today. Cuz I a hard wooker guy.”
“Thanks
for the wooker (worker) things.
Preesiate it. (appreciate it)
“Melanade”
(lemonade)
“Gwamma
dooze it”
“What’s
your name Jack?” He replies, “Jack Brown
Robert Brown.”
-One
day, you were exploring a little bit with your privates as you put on your undies. You pushed it into your undies and said, “Let
me get that lil’ guy in. There, lil
guy’s in.”
-You
said, “Did you know my grampa is my dad?
And my udder grampa is my udder dad?”
I said, “So you have two dads?”
“Ya, but I have one daddy!”
-Playing
football one night you said, “Know where I’m gonna go? I’m gonna go to Iowa State! And play football. Dares 5 guys dare.” (playing with a Hawkeye
football)
-One
night you and I were driving home from the store. You said, “Dares the moooooon! I wanna touch it! It’s too high. Even if Daddy holds me up high, I can’t reach
it. It’s in outer space. With rockets!”
-One
night reading the Christmas search and find book with Daddy. You’ve been reading this since July. You point out the nut cracker on every
page. You say, “Is dat Hanna? A
baseball! Is dat a gingobwead guy?”
-Reading:
you can read the books Fred and Ted go camping and Hop on Pop! We have to read maybe one of the pages every
now and then or just one word to get you started. You have done this for a few months! Makes us very proud!
-A
conversastion with Daddy while eating Wendy’s at Grandma Joyce’s. Justin told him it was a special treat…just
the two of them eating together. He
said, “Just me, and Daddy, Zoey, and Lilly!”
Then he says, “Shhhhhhh, Daddy.
Hanna and Zoey are sleeping.” (whispering whole thing) Then he says, “Dad..you are eating too
fast! Take a drink of Diet Coke.” “Daddy this isn’t supper…it’s a Happy
Meal. Do you like your Happy Meal?”
Love
you big boy Jack!!! You are such a fun
part of our lives. We love you to the
mooooooooon and baaaack!!

and Daddy

Dear
Hanna,
My little baby angel. You are 11 months old today, and we are on
our way home from Thanksgiving back in Cedar Falls/Waterloo. You are such a fun little girl, and you
definitely keep us on our toes! You are
so fast crawling everywhere, and if we loose sight of you for just a second, we
can usually find you pulling yourself up on a table or ottoman trying to reach
for a remote or something you shouldn’t play with!
You are such a little snuggler. Your cheeks are so kissable we can hardly
stand it! Most people comment on your
cute cheeks and just how much they like to kiss them. Your smile is adorable! You smile from check to cheek at most
anything, and the second you see something across the room, you take off. We think you will be walking very soon! We are very aware that the next year of your
life will be very busy for your daddy and me!
You just like to move and to have the freedom to go where you
please.
You still don’t have any teeth. They just have to be coming soon! We started having you try some finger foods:
cut up melon, strawberries, pasta, peas, green beans. You are starting to like Puffs a little bit
more, but choose to throw them more than eat them. Having you eat finger foods helps when we are
getting supper ready. As long as you
have something to play with in your tray, you are okay. You also like fruit in your net! Soon you will have teeth and we can feed you
more than your boring baby food: squash, peas, green beans, pasta primavera,
and lasagna are your favorites! For
bottles, you eat 4 bottles a day of about 30 oz. total.
We are so excited to have your first real
Christmas this year….since we won’t be in the hospital! I can’t believe that last year almost a year
ago, we were in the hospital getting ready to meet little you!! This year has flown! We will have a fun Christmas this year with
you and Jack. I can’t wait to wake up in
our jammies Christmas morning and celebrate Christmas AND your birthday! We will all open presents together and have a
fire and just have such a fun family day; I can’t wait.
You don’t use too many clear words, but you
definitely talk…all the time. You have
started to have conversations with us using your babble. You can tell you are trying to mimic us and
how we emphasize different parts of words.
You get louder and use “bossier” tones when you are angry if we take
something from you. Now if we take
something away from you, say “no no”, your crumble to the floor after a fight
and yell/cry at us for being so mean.
You do not like it when we laugh at this.
Stranger danger has kicked in a little
more. You do not like Uncle Mike’s
beard, or Uncle Mike Steen talking to you sometimes. You do like Daddy, Papa, Grandpa Bob, and
Bobby. You love to be talked to and
played with, but sometimes the wrong person tries to talk to you and you get
the biggest pouty lip before crying. If
we don’t switch who’s holding you pretty quickly, you turn it into a hold your
breath, shake your legs, turn red in the face, alligator tears, until you
exhale big and let out a big cry. Almost
immediately you will stop crying if I hold you and sing Baby Beluga. You are a Mama’s girl, that is for sure.
Sleeping-you have been such a GREAT
sleeper! You still wake up around 6 or
6:30, sometimes later on the weekends.
You don’t cry when you wake up, just talk, stand up, bounce in your
crib, and then lay back down. Sometimes
you will do this for 45 minutes! You
take a nap about 9-10 ish, and then a nap from about 1-3. You go down for bed about 6:20 or 6:30 at
night. You get fussy around 5:00 every
night and we know it’s time to feed you.
Then you get fussy again if we take too long to put you in the
bath. You love your tubbies and now
don’t use your little white bath anymore.
You like to be a big girl and play in there with big brother. You are very slippery and quick so it’s hard
to let you stay in there too long. But
you love to crawl around in there and grab toys, and attempt to knock all of
the shampoo and soap off of the ledge.
We love you our little squirmy, smily, quick
crawling, baby girl! We can’t imagine
our lives without you!
I love you my little girl,
