Jack just turned 19 months and it's been a great month!! We enjoyed a trip to the Ozarks with my friend Stacey and her family, went to the Balloon Classic here in town, Warren County Fair, and spent a lot of time inside because of the terrible heat!
Jack loves to make people laugh. Jack loves any little situation. He and I make the smallest situations silly. For instance, when he has socks and shoes on, I start taking it off real slow and he stops and focuses on me, looks sideways, smiles, and waits eagerly for me to shimmy it off. The slower the better. He has done this for months and months. Jack is definitely my kid....weird! He will dance on cue, lift his shoulders to the beat, raise his eyebrows up at you if you do it to him or if he wants to make you laugh, gallop, cheesy smile at you, look at you sideways with a sarcastic look on his face, repeat most words you say, fake laugh, and turn anything into a phone and say, "Eh-woh?" The other day we had a picnic and he heard some hip hop music. He stopped in his tracks and started bouncing to the beat! Again...just like his Mama!
Jack is obsessed with his Aunt Laura (Woa-wa). She is at the top of the list 99% of the time. She beats out Mommy, Daddy, and grandparents. Maybe it's because she laughs at everything he does no matter how naughty? Or because she never puts him in timeout? He LOVES his Aunt Woa-wa and it's so much fun to watch them play. He will say "Woa-wa" when we go for a walk and he sees trees, when I open my computer, when I pick up my phone, or just randomly throughout the day when he's thinking of her. It's adorable and we wish she lived here!!
Jack has started to get a bit more picky. His favorite foods are mac n cheese, fruit snacks, yogurt covered mangos, goldfish, Oatmeal Squares in a bowl with milk, oatmeal, yogurt sticks, grilled cheese, hot dogs, and KETCHUP!! He will dip everything in it...but not too much ketchup or he will not eat it. He just brushes the tip of it a little. Goofball.
Jack has become obsessed with trains....or Choo Choo's. Everything that he sees...trucks, cement trucks, big cars...they are all choo choos to him. He will stop what he's doing and point and say, "Choooooo, choooo" real slow when he sees something he thinks is a train. Jack is also obsessed with boats. He has been on 2 boat rides, and he is hooked. He loves the life jackets and the water and the bumps and the wind! The other day there was a luggage rack on top of a car and Jack said, "Boat?" (with a Minnesota or Fargo accent) He makes us only look at pages in a couple of his books that have boats on that page. If we try to move on he will flip back and whine until it's in sight.
He's started to stay up a little later this summer, but went back to daycare for the school year today. He zonked out at 7:10 and couldn't even eat his supper. I love that he loves daycare. It makes it so much easier to go to work! Although the toddler bed thing only lasted a week, we now realize that it's better to wait until he's fully ready. After a vacation to the Ozarks, he was not too fond of his big boy bed anymore and kept getting out. We'll give it a shot again when we feel he's more ready. He's been sleeping so much longer and been so much happier to go down for naps and bedtime.
Most used words:
Mama, Dada, Jack (the J isn't quite there), Bee bee (baby), nana (banana), Papa (when he sees a piano, guitar, a man with glasses, or hears piano music on the radio), Ahma (Grandma), bug (everything is a bug now...a crumb, fuzz, and he gets scared sometimes and won't go near it but keeps pointing at the fuzz saying, "Bug!", Nack (snack...but specifically fruit snacks...not raisins or goldfish or any other common snack that Mom tries to pass as a snack...2 minutes into every car ride, he starts to scream, "NACK NACK!", uice (juice), mik (milk), ummmmmmm, "RAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRHHHHHHH" (if you ask him what a lion, zebra, tiger, and sometimes penguin say...the fake tiger scratch with his hand also is included), mote (remote)
Jack loves to look at his family photo album, baby book, and watch videos of himself when he was a baby! He cracks himself up! He can point out Grandpa Bob, Grandma Mary, Grandpa Mick (only if his glasses are on), and Grandma Joyce. Of course Aunt Woa-wa, and sometimes he gets his Uncle Mike's right. He just started to say, "Mike"!
I'm sure there is so much more to say. We just love this little guy so much. He makes us laugh constantly and he gives the best kisses (now on the nose, cheek, or forehead...but he actually puts his cheek to yours, his head to yours, or his nose to yours instead of kissing it), best hugs (when he's in the mood), and runs so fast when he has the remote, a bunch of hangers, a nail from the garage, or anything that we want back. I had such a great summer with my little buddy and get so excited to see him everyday when I get home from work now.
We love you Jack!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for making us laugh and smile every single day!
Pickles!!
Helping Daddy put the big boy bed together! Even though it lasted a week, he still thought he was pretty cool! The first night after he slept in it, he woke up and wanted to go sit on the toilet to go to the bathroom when I asked if I should change his diaper. He thought he was such a big boy!
